1984年年底，埃塞俄比亞發生饑荒，全世界的藝人團結起來，在獻出愛心的同時，這場音樂會也成為永恆的經典。最引人注目的就是演出名單了，幾乎彙集了所有當時最紅的歐美歌手和樂隊，MJ、Queen、U2、Madonna、Bob Dylan、Neil Young、Paul Young、David Bowie、Sting,、Phil Collins、Sade、Dire Straits、Joan Baez、the Who、Elton John,、George Michael、Paul McCartney、Eric Clapton、B.B. King、Bryan Adams。。。。。。光看這些名字你就可以想像當時的盛況了。這很容易讓人想到1969年的woodstock音樂節。同樣是星光燦爛盛況空前，兩者的區別在於，Live Aid有著明確的目的，即為非洲人募捐，呼喚愛心，而woodstock則是宣傳“和平、反戰、博愛、平等”的理念。
Live Aid之中，最著名的就是那首群星組合“USA for Africa”演唱的膾炙人口的“We Are the World”，動聽的旋律，動人的歌詞，強大的演唱陣容，巧妙的編排，使它成為一首前無古人後無來者的完美的群星合唱歌曲。行家一出手，就知有沒有。“USA for Africa”請到的都是重量級人物，雖然每人只有一句歌詞，卻都顯示出雄厚的唱功，餘音繞梁，耐人回味。演唱順序和和聲安排的尤為巧妙，錯落有致，使得每個人都能展示自己的特色，又保持了整首歌的風格的統一。這不是第一首群星義唱的歌曲，卻是影響力最大最完美的。
